Potlucks

DID YOU KNOW VEG PEI HOSTS VEGAN POTLUCKS?

Every other month we host a 100% plant based potluck.  We welcome everyone to join us, herbivores and omnivores alike!  Our potlucks have been a wonderful way to support the plant-based community on PEI.  They provide a place for us to share how delicious eating plant-based can be, allowing us to showcase the diversity possible in 100% plant cuisine.   We also love the sense of community that sharing a monthly meal brings to us, so we can make connections with like minded individuals, and offer support and friendship to newcomers interested in making a transition to a more plant-based lifestyle.

Sometimes our potlucks have themes!  For example we always have a Halloween potluck where dressing up is encouraged, and a summer barbecue potluck where you can purchase burger tickets for fresh grilled veggie burgers.  Keep an eye on our social media and our events calendar for upcoming themes and sponsors.

WHERE ARE THESE POTLUCKS HELD?

We hold our potlucks at The Haviland Club, located at 2 Haviland St. Charlottetown, PE.

WHEN ARE THE POTLUCKS?

We usually hold a potluck on the last Monday of every other month, but sometimes the dates may be a little different for special occasions.  Please check our events calendar for accurate upcoming potluck dates and themes.
Doors always open at 6:30pm and the meal begins at 7:00pm.

IS THERE AN ENTRY FEE?

Yes, we do request a small donation:
$2.00/ person minimum donation for people who bring a dish.
or
$7.00/ person minimum donation for people who do not bring a dish.

All of the proceeds from our potlucks go directly into funding Veg PEI’s community initiatives such as our potlucks, Veg It Up!, and other public events, bringing accessibility and awareness for plant-based lifestyle to our community.

While everyone is encouraged to bring a dish so that there is plenty of food for everyone, we understand that visitors and busy schedules make it impossible for everyone to be able to contribute, which is why we developed the tiered donation system to make it fair for everyone, without excluding anyone from coming to enjoy and experience delicious food and company.

WHAT KIND OF FOOD SHOULD I BRING?

All types of food are welcome as long as they are 100% vegan.
That means absolutely none of the following:
No meats of any kind. (No animal flesh)
No fish or shellfish.
No Dairy.  (No milk, cheeses, butter, yogurt, whey, etc.)
No Eggs.
No Honey.
No Gelatin.

We welcome appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, side dishes, and desserts of all types!
If you aren’t sure what to bring staple foods like rice, potatoes, cooked veggies, fruit trays, etc, are always a good idea!
If you want to get creative you can always search for new and exciting vegan recipes to try on the internet.

Please Bring A Serving Utensil for your dish, and a list of the ingredients used!

Our potlucks usually see a minimum of 40 attendants, sometimes many more, so never be worried that you’re bringing too much or that it will go to waste.

WHAT ELSE DO I BRING?

In the interest of keeping our potlucks environmentally friendly we ask that attendees bring their own:
Plates
Eating Utensils

Bowls (highly recommended, there are usually soups!)
Napkins
Drinks
Tupperware
(In case of lots of leftover looking for a home!)
